The easiest way to come to Nîmes is to get a flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, in which airport you will find an easy connection with the high speed train direct to Nîmes (3.5 hours).

 
Other possibilities are to fly to Marseille or Montpellier, but train connections are less convenient to go to Nîmes.

• For high speed train (TGV) from Paris, be careful to select Paris Charles de Gaulle as starting point and “Nîmes centre” as stop. Beware there is another station: “Nîmes Pont du Gard” which is 14 km away from the city. If you select this station (depends on the train you get in Charles de Gaulle airport), you will have to get an intercity train to go to Nîmes centre (≈ 8 min travel).
  
• From Marseille airport, use the shuttle “lebus+ 13” to go to “Vitrolles Aéroport de Marseille” station to get a train to Nîmes.
• From Montpellier airport, you have a shuttle to “Montpellier Sud de France” station where you can get a train to Nîmes centre.

In “Nîmes Centre” station, to go to Vatel you will have the choice between taxi (≈ 15-20 €) or bus Tram T2 (stop at “Fac de Médecine” which is nearby Vatel hotel). See the map.
